Probiotics

Are Probiotics good for you?

The simple answer is Yes!

The positive benefits of Probiotics have been documented for many years now, even as far back as the start of the 20th Century!

An enormous amount of research has been completed on the use of Probiotics in the last few years, a quick search on google will testify to this.

So what are the basic facts, and what exactly are Probiotics good for?

A probiotic is an organism which contributes to the health and balance of the intestinal tract.
A probiotic is also referred to as the "friendly", "beneficial", or "good" bacteria which when ingested acts to maintain a healthy intestinal tract and help fight illness and disease.

You may already know this, but how can you specifically benefit from them?

Some of the ways Probiotics have been tested to improve health include:

-Treatment of Diarrhea (this is the strongest area of evidence, especially for diarrhea from Rotovirus)
-Inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria that cause digestive stress
-Stimulate the body’s natural defence mechanism - the Immune System
-To prevent and treat Infections of the urinary tract or female genital tract
-To treat irritable bowel syndrome
-Improve digestion of food and absorption of vitamins
-To reduce recurrence of Bladder Cancer
-Help make vitamins needed by the body
-To shorten how long an intestinal infection lasts that is caused by a bacterium called -
-Clostridium Difficile
-To prevent and treat pouchitis (a condition that can follow surgery to remove the colon)
-To prevent and manage Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) in children

Pretty amazing wouldn't you say?

So how do you choose what could be right for you?

A few years ago there was a study completed by writers of the Sunday Times, who found that some leading brands contained 80% more sugar than a can of cola!

Thankfully times have changed and these products now have less sugars. Lancashire Farms Probiotic Yogurt however, still beats these figures with 3.8g of sugar per 100g. Take a look yourself next time you're in your local supermarket.
Coupled with the fact that our Lancashire Farm Probiotic Yogurt, with it's fresh creamy taste, WON the Nantwich International Gold Award this year!
Can you really go wrong with giving us a try?
